Ratings are down for reality shows, cnn is report. It is about time. The television networks have been getting away with entertaining America without having to write scripts or hire professional actors for too long. The result has been really bad television. Survivor was "cute" the first time around, but it has worn thin and watching people eat bugs has never appealed to me. Perhaps television producers will produce something worth watching now? I doubt it.

There was a time that TV shows were supposed to help people escape from reality. Now they are trying to tell us that we need to watch reality all the time, but not live it ourselves. Of course what passes for reality TV is hardly real. If you want to see some reality TV, go over and watch the Discovery Channel or the History Channel. Now that's what I call reality TV!
